If your kids are anything like my kids then they LOVE to color. What better way to get ready for Disney on Ice: Toy Story 3 then by coloring? Well maybe there are some better ways. You could take your kids ice skating. Watch Toy Story 3 on DVD or Netflix, we've been watching it a LOT. You could act out the Toy Story 3 story as a play. There are lots of fun things you can do together! I can help out on the coloring end, the rest is up to you. Happy coloring!

Beauty is......
We often hear that "Beauty is only skin deep". This is obviously not a true statement. Of course back in the 1600's saying something was skin deep was a way of saying that something is superficial. The beauty we see on the outside of a person really is superficial, at least to an extent. To me the true beauty of a person lays on the inside. It is there that we see the true beauty of a person. There are those who might not have the outer beauty that so many seek, but who are the most kind, loving, caring people you will meet. That inner beauty far outshines any outer beauty. Outer beauty can fade with time, but someone with inner beauty....their beauty only grows with time. Often the inner beauty can be overlooked for the outer. When that happens it is extremely sad to me. How many people of great beauty are overlooked because of what we see at a glance? So many prejudices are still out there based on what someone looks like; whether that prejudice be because of skin color, hair color, tattoos, piercings, etc. I am grateful that I was taught to look for the inner beauty and am trying my best to teach my children to do the same.
The beauty of a woman
isn't in the clothes she wears,
The figure that she carries,
or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman
must be seen from in her eyes;
Because that's the doorway to her heart,
the place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman
isn't in a facial mole;
But true beauty in a woman,
is reflected by her soul.
It's the caring that she cares to give,
the passion that she shows;
And the beauty of a woman
with passing years only grows.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! This is my favorite holiday of the year. I love spending the day with my family and friends. Enjoying good food, laughs, fun, and being surrounded by love. I can't think of a better way to spend a day. I am thankful this year to have so much of our family in town. Two of my sisters and their families came out. My husbands brother and his sister and their families are also in town. We have been able to spend all week surrounded by family. My kids love getting to see and play with their out of town cousins.
I hope this day we can all find something to be thankful for. There is always something to be thankful for, even on those days when it seems that nothing can or will go right.

Disney On Ice Ticket Giveaway Update
When I originally scheduled my ticket giveaway for next Tuesday I didn't take one big thing into consideration. I won't be home! Oopsie.... In my own defense I did set the date a month ago. So I am just going to bump it UP a day and do it on Monday morning! Check back in on Monday morning, around 9:30am for the contest details. I'm super excited to help one lucky family get to take their kids to see Disney on Ice presents Disney Pixar's Toy Story 3!
Discount People!
A couple of my kids want fairly expensive Christmas presents. I'm hoping to find a used one on ebay or Craigslist that will not be so cost prohibitive. The thing that gets me is people who sell their used item for as much as a new item. Hello! If I wanted to pay that much I would purchase it new. If you are looking to sell something, price it for it's actual value; not the value you want it to be. Just one of my big pet peeves. So for now I'm taking a break from looking. However if you have an American Girl doll or a Lego Mindstorm robot you are looking to sell.....

Don't Run on the Ice!
I heard that quite a few times on Saturday. I told the nice man who works at the Pepsi Center that if he could get my kid to stop running I'd be impressed! My kids LOVE to run. Turns out they like to "penguin slide" too. This past Saturday we had the opportunity to play on the ice at the Pepsi Center before the Avalanche hockey game. It was so much fun! They had broom ball sticks and some balls. They had the nets out (same ones the pros use) on half of the rink. The other half was open for belly sliding. Great fun had all around; even by my husband who didn't want to go.
The hockey game itself was a lot of fun. My mother in law, two sister in laws, and two brother in laws went with us. The game was good (lost by one though), but the company was better! We were surrounded by friends in the stands and even saw my sons teacher. Can't wait for next years game and ice time! Such a great tradition.
After the ice time my husband and two middle kids headed home (they got to go to a game a few weeks ago). My oldest, youngest, and I went to dinner. It was a frustrating wait (15 minutes turned into 45 minutes). The food was good though and the company even better. I love my kids! They make me smile.

Disney on Ice
Disney on Ice combines two of my favorite things - Figure Skating and Disney! What can go wrong with that? In my estimation absolutely nothing. I really love Disney on Ice shows. Even more, I love watching them with my kids. They love seeing some of their favorite characters gliding across the rink and are in awe of the jumps and lifts.

I am Thankful for.....
A bunch of my friends on Facebook have been doing a "30 days of thankfulness" for November. I decided to join in, but in picture version on my Facebook account. It has been a very interesting project so far. I've been trying to put a lot of thought into what I am thankful for, having a reason for WHY I am thankful for it. Then of course, being a picture person, finding the perfect picture to go with it. It's only day 6 and I know by the end of the month it is going to be getting tough to find good legit things. Not that I am not thankful for many things in my life, but many of them overlap each other and I don't want to duplicate anything. I don't want to "cheat" either by stretching my kids over 4 days or my siblings over 11 days. I'm glad I decided to join in as putting thought into what you are thankful for is a good thing to do. It is something we should all do and that I should do on a more regular basis.
Day 1 - I am thankful for my PARENTS. Not only my biological parents, but the ones who didn't have to be my parents also. All 4 of my parents have touched and influenced my life for good in so many ways.
Day 2 - I am thankful for my HUSBAND. He makes me a better person. He loves me unconditionally and supports me in everything. He is truly my better half.
Day 3 - I am thankful for my KIDS. They are the reason I get out of bed every day. They make me want to be better than I am.
Day 4 - I am thankful for my CAT. He makes me smile every day. He is loving and kind.
Day 5 - I am thankful for my IN-LAWS, my father in law and mother in law. They are wonderful people who raised a wonderful son. We might not always agree, but I love them a lot. They are an inspiration and they love our little family greatly.
Day 6 - I am grateful every day for my belief in JESUS CHRIST and for how that has shaped my life for good.
An attitude of gratitude. That is what I am stiving to have today and every day

Supporting Our Team
I've never understood sporting fans who are "fair weather fans". The ones who only back their team if they are winning. The ones who when you have a bad game they are ripping the team apart instead of building them back up. I've always been in the camp of supporting your team 100%.
In our family that team is the Colorado Rapids. The kids all love attending the games and cheering (aka screaming) for their team. They've got the shirts, the scarves, the stuffed animals, the blankets. They chant, they sing, they jump up and down. I might not jump up and down, but I do the rest.
Our team just got knocked out of the playoffs. Last year we brought home the MLS Cup and it was amazing. This year our team was plagued with injuries. Even with all the injuries and having a different starting XI essentially every game they still made the playoffs. We won't be bringing home the MLS Cup this year, but it's not the end of the world. We'll have some time for our guys to recover, recoup, and be ready to go in March. We've got many players who need these next fews months to heal from injuries. They'll be back though, ready to get back on the pitch and show us how the game is played. I've met a majority of the players on the team and have to say they are a class act.
So until March we'll be counting down the days. We'll be ready to continue to cheer our team on. Win or lose we'll be in our seats cheering our hearts out. Thanks for the joy this season has brought us.
