Disney on Ice presents Treasure Trove in Review

Tonight the family went to see Disney on Ice presents Treasure Trove.  The younger kids had been excited all day.  Angel put together a Belle costume from the beginning of the Beauty and the Beast movie, Picasso made a Gaston costume complete with a "No Beast" sign, and Princess dressed up as Belle ready for the ball.  Due to their Beauty and the Beast wardrobe, they were slightly disappointed that was not one of the main storylines.  However they still greatly enjoyed the show!  Princess was so overly excited that she chattered almost non-stop.

For the show itself, it was really well done.  Disney on Ice shows normally are!  The show started with Alice in Wonderland.  The playing card guards were my favorite part of that segment.  They descended in size as the numbers went down.  The double faces were somewhat freaky, but not in a bad way.  They did some nice precision skating.

From there we went to Wonderland with the crew from Peter Pan.  This segment was my least favorite.  There was nothing wrong with it at all and the crocodile parts were awesome.  It was my least favorite as it seemed a little more chaotic than the rest of the production.  Not a big deal and I did still enjoy it, just not quite as much as the rest.  There was some nice aerial work going on though.

After leaving Wonderland we arrive at the African savannah and the Lion King.  This was my favorite part of the evening.  It was slightly odd that during the "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" song the parts of Zazu were done by Rafiki.  Scar was sufficiently freaky and the hyenas had my kids laughing.  When Simba and Nala met back up and danced to "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" it was pretty fantastic.  I think it was probably the best skating I have seen live, which is seeing something.  It was really well done!

The second half of the production was shorter storylines for Snow White, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Tangled and Princess & the Frog.  Each one of these storylines showed a specific portion of each story.

With Snow White we see the dwarves and Snow White interacting.  The dwarves leave for work when the evil queen shows up as a hag.  Snow White eats the apple and sleeps until the Prince awakes her with a kiss.

In Aladdin we see the discovery of the Genie in the lamp, Aladdin's entry into Agrabah, and the magic carpet ride he takes with Jasmine.  I have to commend them on having the seat belts on the carpet the same colors as the costumes.  Seamless blending and safety all in one.  Well done prop department!

With the Little Mermaid we went under the sea to see Ariel, Sebastian and some undersea creatures entertain us to the tune of "Under the Sea".

In Tangled we meet up with Flynn Ryder taking a frying pan to the head before helping Rapunzel to see the lights.  A young girl from the audience helped them send up the lantern.  It was really sweet!

In Princess and the Frog Tiana and Prince Naveen do a fun dance number with some fabulous jazz number.

In true Disney on Ice style the production ends with all the princesses and their princes coming out for one last dance.

Oh and don't forget Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy!  We must not forget them.  Goofy is still my favorite and always will be, but the others did do a great job too.  ;)

I asked everyone what they enjoyed most about the show.  Archer, in true teenage boy form, said his favorite part was cheering on Snow White to eat the apple.  The punk!  Angel liked Timon and Pumba.  Picasso really enjoyed the hyenas.  Princess, well she just liked all of it!  My sweet husband really liked the playing cards from Alice and Wonderland.  My whole family really enjoyed spending our evening at the Denver Coliseum watching Treasure Trove.  This is a great show for not just girls, but for boys too.  It is not heavily princess oriented, though the princesses will always be a big focus.  I do recommend Disney on Ice presents Treasure Trove.  It is a great blend of  the different Disney movies, it is fast paced, and just good fun for everyone.

Tickets are still available at www.ticketmaster.com/treasure.  For the April 5th show you can still use the coupon code STN26 for $4 off your tickets (not valid on VIP or Front Row)!  The April 7 evening show is in Spanish.  As always, parking is free at the Denver Coliseum!

Disney on Ice presents Treasure Trove

I have had some questions about how to get the discounted tickets to Disney on Ice presents Treasure Trove.  Due to that I thought I'd give instructions to break it down for you.  :)  So here you go:  Go to www.ticketmaster.com/treasure. Pick your date and click on the "Find tickets" button. Enter code STN26 into the offer code box (make sure you do all caps). Then tell it to show the promotion on the map. If you click on the map it will show you price by seats. The lower seats are $50 including all the taxes, while the upper seats are $18 including the taxes.  Pick your seats and you are good to go!  Remember parking is free at the Coliseum, unless you chose to park in one of the pay lots.

The Denver Colorado dates are April 4-7 at the Denver Coliseum.

My kids are getting really excited about going to see Treasure Trove and so am I.  It is such a fun family outing that everyone can enjoy.  Even Archer, being a young teenage boy, enjoys it.  I sometimes hear that it is just for girls because it is princesses.  I personally don't feel that way at all.  If you like Disney movies, then you will like Disney on Ice.  The productions are essentially snippets of the movie live and on ice.  Cannot go wrong there!

Here is a clip of what it is:

AMSOIL Arenacross Review

The kiddos and I went to see the AMSOIL Arenacross tonight.  We've never been to a motorcycle race before, so had no clue what to expect.  I have to say that the people who work at the Denver Coliseum are always super helpful!  We got directed to our seats and got settled in.  The kids thought the track looked amazing and immediately started discussing how much dirt there was (For a 10-round season, 405,000 cubic feet of dirt will be used, which is enough to fill London’s Big Ben two-and-half times. In weight, 3,000 tons of dirt is used per event, which is the equivalent to 20 blue whales – the largest animal on the planet.), whether or not there is some sort of structure under the dirt, to which way the racers would ride.  They chatted away until the race started.

Of course I did not think about ear plugs until we were almost to the Coliseum.  That was a bad on my part, ear plugs are highly suggested!  We did okay without them, though there was some ear plugging.  It is loud!  Not so loud that my ears hurt, but loud enough that ear plugs would have been nice.

I was surprised at how many racers were out on the track at one time.  Every round my kids would all pick which racer they wanted to win and then cheered that person on.  When they won, the kids went wild.  When they lost, there was a lot of better luck next time.  There were some little kids that had a race about half way through and they were so tiny!  The wee little racers were pretty darn cute.  My kiddos like the adult racers better, as they made the big jumps and went faster.

If we go again, which the kids would love, we would make sure to bring ear plugs.  I would also make sure to bring some cash so I could buy a couple bottles of water.  A few of us got some throat irritation from the fumes.  After some fresh air and water it cleared right up, so it is not something I would consider a deterrent at all.  Just need some water next time!

If you and your family are interested in motorcycles or racing, it was a great family event.  There are two more shows in Denver - Saturday, March 16 @ 7:00pm with a pre-track party from 5-6pm and Sunday, March 17 @ 12:00pm.  Parking is free!

AMSOIL Arenacross

I have always enjoyed riding on the back of a motorcycle.  The wind in your hair, arms wrapped around the person in front of you, the feeling of freedom that it brings.  That little touch of danger.  I've never been the one driving and have not had the opportunity to ride often.  Even when I did have that joy, it was always brief and relatively safe.  Safe is good, even if there is that hint of danger.

Then there are the riders in Arenacross, they go way beyond a hint of danger!  I have watched it on television before and it just boggles my mind.  In a couple weeks I will have the opportunity to see it up close and personal and so can you!

Speed! Air! Danger! It’s what makes AMSOIL Arenacross, Featuring Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross, the premier indoor, off-road motorcycle racing championship. What separates AMSOIL Arenacross from traditional motorsports is its intimate close-to-the-action setting, giving fans the on-track feel of horsepower and gravity. Fans will be treated to an exciting new competitive format in 2013 with a pair of high-octane 12-lap Main Events during each night of racing on the highly-technical, air-inducing tracks of AMSOIL Arenacross. As reigning champion Tyler Bowers sets his sights on a third consecutive title, a highly-talented field of challengers, led by veteran Jeff Gibson, will stop at nothing to capture the coveted crown. Fans can also get a one-of-a-kind chance to meet the riders and feel the dirt at the Monster Energy Track Party, full of interactive experiences and the unique chance to see AMSOIL Arenacross up close and personal.

Arenacross will be in Denver March 15 -17, 2013 at the Denver Coliseum.  Here are the details:

Friday, March 15 – 7:00PM (Professional Racing) Ricky Carmichael post-race autograph session

Joys of Fall

Fall is definitely on its way!  The nights are colder, mornings are cooler, leaves are starting to change on the trees.  I really, really do love fall!  Another thing that my family loves about fall?  That would be the fact that the circus comes to town!  Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus will be in Denver at the end of the month.  This year their show is based on the Year of the Dragon.  Which is doubly cool as I was born in the year of the dragon!  Plus, dragons are just cool.  :)

The newest Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey show is looking to be really good and I am very excited to go see it with my family.  One of the parts I am most excited to see is the "Riders of the Wind".  They are a Cossack group of acrobatic equestrians.  Horses are at the top of my favorite things that I love.  I love everything about them, so watching a group of skilled equestrians and their mounts is a sight to behold!

This year's show also includes Shaolin monks (seriously cool!), a Russian bar act, motorcycle daredevils, trapeze artists, animals, and clowns.  I would bet that their will also be dragons at some point, though I'll have to wait and see on that point!

The Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus will be in Denver from September 27 - October 7 at the Denver Coliseum.  Tickets are $12 on opening night (excluding Circus Celebrity, Front row, or VIP seats.)  Kids tickets are only $10 for the Sept 27 - October 4th performances (excludes all VIP seating, good for kids 2-12.  Limit 4 kids' tickets per 1 adult ticket.)  Tickets may be purchased through Ticketmaster.  Don't forget to mention code: TFFA to save $4 per ticket!  (Not valid on Oct 5 @ 7pm or any Oct. 6 or 7 performances, excludes all VIP seating.)

I am a Feld Family Activator, and in exchange for my time and efforts in attending shows and reporting my opinion within this blog, as well as keeping you advised of the latest discount offers, Feld Entertainment has provided me with complimentary tickets to this event.  All opinions posted here are my own.

Phineas & Ferb Snow Day?

It is definitely a snow day for most all of the Denver metro area.  We've got over a foot of snow and it is still coming down!  I love these types of days.  Lots of snow and my family.  Perfection!

However, Phineas and Ferb Live starts tonight, so what to do?  Do they take a snow day too?  The answer to that is no, they are NOT taking a snow day.  Below is the press release from Feld Entertainment:

Due to the Winter Storm

Ticketholders must bring their unused Friday, February 3rd, 7:00pm show ticket to the Wells Fargo Theatre Box Office where they will be issued a ticket to the Saturday, Fe

The Wells Fargo Theatre Box Office will be open 10am – 7pm, pending weather, on Saturday, February 4th to assist ticketholders with exchanges.  For additional information call 303-228-8205.

No ticket exchanges can be honored for the Saturday, February 4th, 1:00pm or 4:00pm performances due to limited ticket availability.

If you have tickets to tonight's show and can still make it, then come on down!  Otherwise you can try to exchange your tickets to tomorrow nights show.  As long as we can get out of our neighborhood we are planning on still going tonight.  It might be a slightly smaller audience, but still a great performance!
