Spiders

Spiders.  They are creepy and crawly.  When they are outside they don't bother me at all.  Be free little spiders!  Go play, have fun, catch tasty bugs.  Just stay out of my house!  Even in my house there are times that they don't bother me.  I will catch and release, no problem.  Bye, bye little spider.  However, when said spider is in my bedroom then we have a problem.  A yelling at the hubby to wake him up to kill it problem.  Leaving the bathroom in the middle of the night to find a spider between myself and my bed?  Not cool.  Doesn't matter if it is a small spider, that sucker is between me and my bed!  A couple of nights ago we were getting ready for bed and just had the flashlight on my phone on for light.  I saw what looked like a dark smudge near the ceiling.  "Is that a spider?", I asked my sweetheart.  He goes to take a look as I shine the light in that direction.  It was a spider.  Not just a spider, but a SPIDER!  A BIG spider, not a little spider.  This thing was over two inches in diameter!  In my bedroom.  Just feet from my bed.  At this point we are way past not cool and into "Houston we have a big frickin problem" range.  As I covered my head with the sheet, and still aiming the light towards the spider, my sweetheart calmly smashed that sucker with a shoe.  Then he makes the decision to throw the spider in the trash right next to my head!  He would tell you the trash can is next to the bed, not my head, but he would be wrong.  The trash can is too close to my head to have a BIG spider in it, whether that sucker is living or not.  Since he loves me, my sweetheart took the trash out at one in the morning.  Love that man!  The spider, not so much.

Class Assignments

The last few weeks has been a constant barrage of when are we going to find out who our teachers are.  Daily.  By each of the three younger kids.  Constant.  How many times in a day can you tell them x number of days?  Turns out a lot!  Good thing is that they have been so excited to go back to school and could not wait to find out who their teachers are.

Today the class assignments, finally, came out.  Finally in my book as it means no more constant nagging from the kiddos.  They all got the teachers I was hoping for!  Yay!  Angel and Picasso both got teachers we've already had before.  Angel's 5th grade teacher was also Archer's teacher.  Picasso's 4th grade teacher was Angel and Archer's teacher also.  Good thing I LOVE those teachers!  For Princess she got the teacher I was leaning towards, but I would have been happy with any of our 2nd grade teachers.  The 2nd grade teacher is one that none of the older kids have had, which disappointed Princess briefly.  She really wanted the same teacher that both Picasso and Angel had.

Now comes the next worry, friends.  We have already had our first major disappointment in that Picasso's best friends are not in his class.  He was devastated.  He is excited about who his teacher is, but I don't think he had stopped to think about the fact that the kids in the class change completely.  Knowing that a couple other friends are in class helped and he is looking forward to lunch and recess with his best friends.  Angel lucked out with her best friend in her class.  Princess, well we do not know anyone in her class yet.  That girl will make friends super fast though, so no worries there.

Archer is slightly curious about what pod (class grouping) he will be in, but being in middle school he is not quite so excited as his siblings.

Another week and a half then back to school.  I am sure there will be something new for the kids to mom, mom, MOM me about.  For now I am so glad that this one is past and that my kids will have such awesome teachers.

Sleeping Over

Girls have a sleep over and you get lots of giggling, talking, nail painting, dressing up, more talking, and even more giggling.  Boys have a sleep over and you get lots of things being blown up.  The talking comes later with boys, after you have sent them to bed.  Then they talk, they laugh, they have a great time.  The differences are stark, but the similarities are fabulous!
